A Lasting Tribute
to Mark Munsell Hustle
A little about Mark. Mark played CYC
baseball, basketball and soccer. He
then played select team baseball and
later American Legion Baseball. He
lettered in baseball, football and
basketball at Ft Zumwalt North High
school and graduated in 1991. He
attended Southeast Missouri State
University (SEMO) on a football
scholarship. He also played Baseball
there and was the Designated Hitter
for the 1992 team when it went to
their first Division one Ohio Valley
conference post-season tournament.
Through all of Mark's sporting
endeavors he was a friendly, smiling
and considerate competitor who
hustled harder than most anyone. He
caught double headers for American
Legion and he played offense and
defense for Ft Zumwalt North High
School. When the possession would
change, Mark often would be the only
player left out on the field as both
teams changed players. He was a
successful man and teammate. He won
numerous awards but he won even more
friends.
The Mark Munsell Memorial Foundation
has endowed a scholarship at
Southeast Missouri State University,
Mark's alma mater. Mark played
football and baseball with SEMO.
Together the University and the
Foundation will ensure his memory
lives on forever with the Mark
Munsell Memorial Scholarship. This
scholarship was announced this fall,
fully funded by fall of 2008, and
awarded annually to a worthy
recipient.
